The Debt Relief Abhishekam at Rin Mukteshwar Temple in Omkareshwar is a unique and sacred ritual dedicated to freeing oneself and one’s ancestors from all kinds of debts. Performed with gram dal (chana dal), this powerful Rudra Abhishekam draws upon the historical worship by the Pandavas, who, under Lord Krishna’s guidance, anointed Lord Shiva here to overcome their ancestral debt (Pitra Rina).

Pandavas asked Lord Krishna the reason for their suffering during their Agyat-Vaas, God told him about this Agyatvaas due to their Pitra-Rina (ancestor’s debt). At the same time, he described the significance of worshiping Lord Shiva in the form of Rin Mukteshwar. Then the Pandavas worshiped Lord Rin-Mukteshwar on the banks of the Narmada Kaveri Sangam in Omkareshwar and built a temple.
