Thank you for the response and idea, Julie. I have actually done the TX NM trip twice so far, once pretty close to the itinerary here, and the other time split up to accommodate a friend and gis wife that I met up with. I absolutely am in love with those parks, especially Big Bend, Guadalupe Mtns, and Carlsbad Caverns. If you get the SF to LA itinerary up, I will check it out. I may end up going that route instead of coast, as I am trying to work on my passport stamps, haha.

Yes, we last drove the Pacific Coast Highway in the 90s, even though we've been back to California multiple times (we were just there in September and looped through Lassen Volcanic, Crater Lake, and Redwoods). That is a great trip, best done from mid-July through September because of snow, and I'll hopefully have our itinerary published early 2026. I also plan to write a road trip itinerary from SF to LA, but more interior, through Yosemite and Kings Canyon, for national parks travelers. On our National Parks Itinerary page, you can see a lot more road trips through the USA, in addition to what is mentioned in this post. One idea is our TX NM itinerary, which would be great to do before May 2026, when parts of Big Bend close for renovations. Cheers, Julie

Hi Julie, I’m having a great time on the Vegas to San Diego trip right now and already thinking of what I want to do next. Do you have any plans to expand on the California Pacific Coast Highway itinerary? Or that may have been too long ago to put one together, haha. There are so many places you all can go, I’m sure you’re trying to avoid repeats.
